Its a fair question asked to a family with three biological kids. Why adopt? After all, we already have three kids, and in the US, that is already over the “norm”. Well, for one, we have never been normal, I mean, who wants that? Normal isn’t fun, its, well, normal. We have never wanted to be normal, we want to be exceptional. But that doesn’t answer the question does it, no one adopts a child to be exceptional. No, we adopted for many reasons, but the main one being that we knew we wanted another child and we knew that adoption was right for our family.

Did you know that there are some 147 or so million orphans in the world? That is an unfortunate statistic to know, because in knowing it you are posed with a choice, do something about it or don’t. When we realized and really understood the orphan crisis in the world we knew that we had to do something, so we started the adoption process. Many of our friends and family did something too, they supported us, giving money, time and love to help us.

Adoption isn’t for everyone, I know that, but as a new adoption dad I can tell you that it is an amazing and beautiful thing.

Why adopt? Because, we have a home and love to give and we were fortunate enough to be connected to our little boy on the other side of the world.
