Life is not what we think it is

I was watching some teaching by Rich Mullins tonight and he commented on how with God most things are exactly the opposite of the way we think they are. He was talking about being assertive and how we always tell people to be assertive and to go and get what you want, when in fact, that “thing” that is wanted won’t really satisfy.

Its never about getting something but giving it. Its never about being first but being last. To find life we have to lose it. Its funny, but in God’s economy, more often than not, our gut response is the opposite of what God would have us do.

So I think that life is not what we think. Its not as strait forward and we try to make it. And often, what is most important becomes very easily overlooked as we seek what we think is important.
