Why the first thing you do matters

Those that know me well know that I have an ongoing battle with getting up early. I both love rising early and desperately hate it, which is a fun balance. At this moment I’m back on the wagon and rising early so that I can start my day proactively.

This morning, as I was going through my new morning ritual (I’ll write on this soon) I realized that the first thing that I do during my day matters. When my alarm goes off I have two options, hit snooze or get up and start my routine. Hitting snooze serves only myself, but getting up serves others.

This first choice of the day, serve myself or serve others, sets the tone for the remainder of my day. It effects my attitude and approach to the day. I think its safe to say that I tend to be a better person on the days that I get up, and that matters.
