What I want people to say about me

I read this quote recently, and it has haunted me.

“the most serious misfortune for a busy man, who is overwhelmed by his possessions is, that he believes men to be his friends when he himself is not a friend to them…“

Seneca

Years ago, I read a blog post (or social media post) by Casey Graham where he said that when he is gone, the greatest compliment someone could ever say about him was that he was a good friend.

I’ve thought about that over and over for years. And I would just add two things to it. When I’m gone, I want people to say I was a good husband, a good dad, and a good friend.

Today, I want to be a good friend.
